Ugh, the thing that just gets to me most about Levi is how much he cares. He really cares, and he cares a lot. It’s limited in scope to just the scouts, but he cares so much for them it hurts. He values them in a way Erwin doesn’t, or maybe can’t, and I love how bluntly he reminds Erwin that he’s not sacrificing assets, he’s ordering people to their deaths.

Levi might not have been the best ambassador to humanity and he does have some sadistic streak that could be too scary at times, but I think he values someone’s life greatly. He knows when to accept that sacrifices are needed, but you’d damn well be assured that nothing is going to be in vain as long as he could do something about it.

The fall was not scripted, Anne actually slipped while filming, although she started laughing they kept with the scene. The director didn’t yell cut because she waved her hand a little (what looked like when she waved at Lily to keep talking) to signal that she wanted to keep filming the shot. The editor eventually chose this shot because he felt it fit Mia’s character a lot more than the scripted shots they had.
